The Procurement Sync

What 2,500 open procurement roles tell us about the market right now.

Welcome to the first issue. Every month we read the procurement roles employers post on their own career sites, then tell you what the market is actually asking for: who is hiring, what they pay, and what belongs on your resume.

Here is October.

The month in three numbers

2,500open procurement roles we’re actively matching, at 641 employers
6%are fully remote. 23% are hybrid, 71% onsite
26%mention AI in the job description

Pay

What procurement pays right now

The typical midpoint of posted base salary ranges, by level.

The jump from Manager to Director is the biggest step in the ladder, about $51K at the midpoint. More than half of roles (64%) post a pay range, so you can check before you apply.

Flexibility

Seniority buys flexibility

Share of roles that are remote or hybrid, by level.

Fully remote is rare at every level, 4% to 8%. If you are holding out for remote only, adding hybrid or a city you would commute to opens up far more of the market.

Skills

What employers are asking for

Share of postings that name each skill or tool.

Negotiation leads, named in 72% of postings. Certifications and specific platforms are named far less often than people expect, so lead with the results you delivered. AI is the one to watch: 42% of Director postings now mention it, against 19% for Analysts.

Headlines vs. hiring

Tariffs fill the news. Not the job descriptions, yet.

344news stories on tariffs in our feed this month
2%of open procurement roles mention it (51 of 2,500)

Tariffs is a hot topic in procurement, but employers still hire mainly for core procurement skills. If you have handled tariff exposure or moved suppliers because of it, say so; few candidates will.

Another pattern: about 1 in 8 roles asks for a security clearance or ITAR experience. Amazon (109 open roles) and SpaceX (100) top our employer list this month, followed by BAE Systems, M.C. Dean and L3Harris.
